1 - What is MagnoliaWave?

  MagnoliaWave is High Speed Wireless Internet brought to you by the City of Southaven. MagnoliaWave does NOT tie up your phone line because it uses radio frequency and not your telephone line. Magnoliawave service comes with unlimited access and 5 or 10 10MB email accounts depending on your plan.

2 - How much does it cost?

  MagnoliaWave offers two packages. The first one is the Residential Plan which is $30 /month, and the second is our Business Plan which is $100 /month.

3 - Is MagnoliaWave available in my area?

  MagnoliaWave is in a limited area at the moment. We offer service to the Main Street district and around City Hall. Neighborhoods covered are Colonial Hills, Carriage Hills, and the Brookhollow subdivisions.
We have recently added two new towers:  Greenbrook Parkway as well as Getwell Rd.  The areas covered on these towers are the Greenbrook subdivision, Dickens Place, Pinehurst, Deerchase, etc.  Call to check your area 662-280-2489.

4 - What do I get along with my monthly fee?

  As part of your MagnoliaWave service you get unlimited high speed wireless internet. You also get 5-10MB email accounts. You also get either an indoor or outdoor antenna depending on your location along with WaveRider modem. You also get technical support from right here in Southaven.

5 - Can I hook up multiple computers?

  MagnoliaWave can support multiple computers with one WaveRider modem. By default we set up your residential account to allow up to 3 computers to access the internet. All you need is a network router or switch, network cards for each machine, and network cables. You can also have a wireless network in your home or business, which consist of a wireless router and wireless cards.

6 - Can I get a static I.P. address?

  We do provide static IP Addresses for our Business accounts if needed.

7 - Does MagnoliaWave have a business plan?

  We do offer a Business Plan. It is $100 /month and consists of 512kbps - 1024kbps bandwidth and 10-10MB email accounts. more info

8 - Can I use AOL with MagnoliaWave?

  Yes you can "piggyback" AOL with MagnoliaWave service. You can use the BYOA (Bring Your Own Access) plan at a cheaper rate than their regular service. You will be doing exactly that taking advantage of our high-speed service but continuing to use their software. You will need to change the setup in AOL Login Screen to use TCP/IP instead of your modem.

9 - If I relocate in Southaven will I be able to connect to MagnoliaWave?

  If the area you are moving to is covered by one of our towers you will be able to take the service with you. We will have to program your modem for the new tower location. We will have to program your modem for the new location and if needed we will come out and get your antenna set back up for a reconnect fee

10 - What software is needed for MagnoliaWave to operate?

  For MagnoliaWave to operate properly the only software that is required is a web browser. For example: Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

11 - How many email accounts do I get?

  With our Residential Plan you can get up to 5 email accounts with 10 MB of space, and 10 email accounts with the same space with our Business Plan.

12 - How does MagnoliaWave's email work?

  You can take advantage of our email either two ways. The first being through our web interface which is linked on our website. The other way you can use our email is through a mail client such as Outlook Express, Netscape Communicator, or Eudora to name a few. 13 - Do I have access to my email if not on MagnoliaWave?

  You can access your email through our web interface anywhere anytime as long as you are able to access our website.

14 - If I relocate in Southaven will I be able to keep the same email address?

  You can keep your email accounts anywhere in the city as long as we can get you service.

15 - What is involved with the installation process?

  You can either make a request for service online or call us @ 662-280-2489. After we have scheduled an installation appointment a technician will come out and do the installation. We will have to be onsite to determine whether it will be an indoor or outdoor antenna install. If your home requires an outdoor antenna, we will have to reschedule our installer to come out with a contractor that does the outdoor installs. We try to have less than a 48-hour turn around. If you home requires the indoor antenna we will have you up and running within minutes.

16 - What hardware is involved in the installation?

  The only hardware that is needed before we come out to do the install is a network card in your PC or laptop. We provide everything: the Modem, Antenna, and cross-over cable. If you want us to set up your home or office with a network you will have to supply all of the extra hardware.

17 - How much do you charge for installation?

  For the installs that require the indoor antenna the installation fee is $0. For the outdoor antenna installations the installation fee is $100 paid to the contractor.
